The threshold for genocide has been exceeded in Gaza by IDF actions. The Israelis are intentionally depriving the population of food, bombing and executing civilians deliberately and destroying civil infrastructure to make Gaza unlivable.
Genocidal statements have been made from the top down. Even Netanyahu cites Amalek from the bible and compares the story to the Palestinians. Soldiers comment "death to arabs" on social media. This article will not focus so much on statements, but on actions.
The Israelis have demonized anyone trying to help the Palestinians, from UNRWA to private aid organizations. UNRWA and other UN facilities in Gaza are targeted by IDF soldiers for fun on social media and apparently are used as bases by the soldiers, or are destroyed. A World Central Kitchen convoy was deliberately bombed to stop aid operations as well. The USA (Israel's greatest ally) had to resort to air dropping supplies into Gaza because the IDF and Israeli settlers blocked all border checkpoints into the Gaza strip.
Evidence of field executions has emerged from several areas of the Gaza strip. One body was apparently run over by a tank with a zip tie evident on one of the arms. This is evidence that a captive was run over, probably alive. More zip tied bodies were photographed in the courtyard of Shifa hospital when the IDF withdrew from its two week siege in March. Al-Jazeera obtained several videos of IDF soldiers shooting unarmed Palestinians and of drones targeting unarmed Palestinians.
The deliberate and systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure cannot be denied. The IDF has filmed themselves detonating and bulldozing schools, mosques, and universities. Israa university was detonated with explosive charges from the ground. It had no military significance but was blown apart anyway. IDF tanks have been filmed firing on mosques for amusement of the soldiers. Cemeteries have been leveled as well, this was first uncovered by CNN. At least 16 cemeteries have been destroyed in the Gaza strip apparently for no reason other than to wipe away evidence of Palestinian existence.
Razing of neighborhoods and civilian homes is the most frequent war crime of the IDF in the 2023-2024 genocide. This is a common sight from IDF social media. Reprisals for soldiers killed in action have also taken place. In one instance, 20 Palestinian home were detonated as punishment for 20 KIA soldiers. Khan Younis has been almost completely razed to the ground. According to some numbers, 60% of buildings in the Gaza strip have been destroyed.
The IDF has, to date, destroyed 16 cemeteries in the Gaza strip. This is a violation of Rule 113 of the Geneva Convention. CNN reported this first.
The use of white phosphorous on population centers is a violation of Protocol III of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons. The use of white phosphorus is not in itself prohibited, but when used on populated areas it is considered a war crime. D528 signifies white phosphorus shells.
The torture or mistreatment of POWs is a violation of Article 13 of the Geneva Convention.
The IDF has destroyed schools and displaced children, giving them no way to be further educated for the future. They have also destroyed universities of no military importance, such as al-Israa university. This is a violation of Geneva convention Article 50.
Deliberately destroying mosques and religious sites with no military value is a violation of Geneva Convention Article 75.
The IDF has destroyed huge swaths of civilian infrastructure, violating Geneva Convention Article 57. Entire neighborhoods have been razed.
Aid has been blocked in Israel destined to Gaza, this is a violation of the Geneva Convention Article 62.
Food has been deliberately destroyed by the IDF meant for Gazans. This is a violation of the Geneva Convention Article 54. Here an IDF soldier lights aid on fire.
Gazan captives (including children) have been forced to recite slogans by the IDF in violation of Geneva Convention Article 27.
Gazan POWs or captives have been humiliated by the IDF, in violation of Geneva Convention Article 14.
Reprisals have been conducted on infrastructure in "honor" of KIA IDF soldiers. This is a violation of Geneva Convention Article 33. This IDF soldier states the destruction in the background of 20 houses is for 20 dead IDF soldiers.
IDF soldiers stormed a hospital in the West Bank in civilian clothing, in violation of Geneva Convention Article 43. They also summarily executed three Palestinians in hospital beds in violation of Geneva Convention article 3.
